School may be out, but Co-op Cooking Classes are in session! And there are so many enjoyable options to choose from.
Father’s Day is right around the corner, and the best gifts are always the ones hand-crafted by the kids. “Raw Pies for Pops” will teach the kiddos how to craft a special treat or two for dad on Saturday, June 14, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Hotter temperatures cause people to crave lighter fare, and the Cooking School is offering plenty of options to satisfy your hunger without weighing you down. Kim Jones will have a “Summer Paella Party” on Friday, June 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Lucinda DeFranco will take the class on an “International Vegan Voyage” on June 16, and Anna Werderitsch will “Quench!” your thirst on June 25 with a class on fizzy, probiotic sodas.
On Saturday, June 7, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., the BriarPatch Co-op Community Cooking School is having an Open House. It will give people interested in classes the opportunity to meet some of the teachers, sample foods that will be prepared in the summer classes, and so much more.
Plus, the Patch has partnered with The Wooden Spoon for many of its summer courses. Some classes now come with free cooking tools provided as a gift or available as a giveaway from The Wooden Spoon. Look for the PLUS in the class descriptions.
With three classes each week, it’s impossible to cover them all. Look for the full descriptions, as well as specific dates and times, on BriarPatch’s website, http://www.briarpatch.coop/community/cooking-classes/.
Classes are held at the BriarPatch Co-op Community Cooking School, 648 Zion Street in Nevada City. The fee for most classes, which includes a share of what’s being cooked, is just $30 for BriarPatch owners and $35 for the general public. The Patch is also offering a summer special – sign up yourself and a friend and only pay $25 each. For more information or to pre-register, call BriarPatch at 272-5333×134, email email@example.com, or sign-up and pay for the class online.
